Qualification Requirements
To qualify for the HUBZone program, your business must meet the following criteria:
- Be a small business according to SBA size standards
- Be at least 51% owned and controlled by U.S. citizens, a Community Development Corporation, an agricultural cooperative, an Alaska Native corporation, a Native Hawaiian organization, or an Indian tribe
- Have its principal office located in a HUBZone
- Have at least 35% of its employees living in a HUBZone
HUBZone Map Updates
The HUBZone map was updated on July 1, 2023. The program updates HUBZone designations every five years to ensure it continues to serve the communities most in need of assistance. The next major updates will occur:
- July 2028: Updates to Qualified Census Tracts and Qualified Non-Metropolitan Counties
- 2026: Updates to reflect expiring Redesignated Areas
- Ongoing: Updates for new and expiring Governor-designated covered areas and Qualified Disaster Areas

Maintaining Your Certification
To maintain your HUBZone certification:
- Recertify every three years
